Looking for a free mentor.

Check out today’s Teatime Titbit: Monday Motivation.

As we all know, a mentor usually doesn’t come cheaply and to have one for free, well you’d jump at the chance (sich darum reißen), wouldn’t you?

I’ve been following & learning from Gary Vaynerchuk aka Gary Vee for at least 4 years probably longer and watched his rise to fame (Ruhm) from afar (aus der Ferne)., Check out the short vid on him made by Today to find out more about his back story, which I linked up here: https://youtu.be/gTc20qu3GYw

In a nutshell (Kurz und Knapp), Gary has gone from a Russian immigrant in the US to a multi-millionaire. He is currently owner of Vaynermedia (a social media/advertising company) & as a side gig, a social media guru and mentor to many 1000s of people worldwide.

Why Gary? His daily vlog (dailyvee) is free on YouTube, which documents his days as CEO and brand builder giving great insights (Einblicke) into how he works, ticks and wins, not to mention a glimpse (Blick) into the ‘future’ of business/social media now.

He is the one who inspired me to start my blog, give back, provide free business English content to help you take your English to the next level and thus ‘levelling the playing field’ (gleiche Verhältnisse schaffen) for you as you are you able to speak, write and think native by ‘soaking up’ (aufnehmen) my content.

Have a great start to the week. TC. Dave.

Inspiring person with a catchy and motivating message. I can understand how he picks you up and why you consider him as a mentor. Thanks for sharing.

I like his story, confidence and his enthusiasm. However, to my German ears he is a bit too loud, too eccentric in the way he acts but that’s a general US vs GER topic and has nothing to do with him himself. Nevertheless, he has every right to do so and it’s his mentality compared with strong will that brought him so far. Where others see barriers, he sees challenges by breaking the mold and taking new directions instead. Respect! A real role model blessed with lots of emotional intelligence, too.

I understand that he may come across a lot on the arrogant side. If you Keep watching him you’ll soon look through the bravado and recognise what value he is giving to would-be entrepreneurs, kids, and peers by showing us that success only comes with immense hard work – the hussle – and emotional intelligence – „build the highest building in town instead of tearing down other buildings in town“ Garyvee.

Being eccentric has nothing to do with arrogance or superciliousness. Instead, he seems thankful and modest which motivates him to help others along their way. In the videos we see him in action, always ready to hit the ground running. These are snapshots of his doing, I bet even we emotionless Germans find him extremely sympathic if we get the chance to meet him. As I said: Inspiring man!
