Monday Mails. 7 words with an invoice
‘Money makes the world go round‘ (Geld regiert die Welt) or so they say and you get money from your customers/clients by invoicing/billing them. Notice how ‘invoice‘ can be used as a verb, just like the less formal ‘(to) BILL‘.
“We SENT/ISSUED (formal) you an invoice FOR the goods/ €*250 on 1.9.2017.“ *currency (Währung) sign goes before the amount in English.
“Unfortunately, our invoice hasn’t been PAID/SETTLED (formal) yet“
If you don’t pay your invoice on time, your invoice is said to be ‘OUTSTANDING‘ (offen) and your payment is therefore ‚overdue‘ (überfällig). You now find yourself on the slippery path of ‘reminder‘ (Mahnung) love letters. But that’s a whole new can of worms (komplizierte Geschichte).
