Before you start, a
little foray into the grammar of the future. Did you know there are two ways of
predicting/forecasting in the future? The difference, however, is often
overlooked or even unknown:
Firstly, the ‘will’ form (for predicting the future)
I think the weather will be nice this afternoon.
Secondly, the ‘be going to’ form for predictions based on a situation NOW
“Look at those black clouds. It’s going to rain.”
(we can see that it is going to rain from the clouds that are NOW in the sky – so
DON’T USE ‘will’ in this example).
So as you can tell from the title, they use the ‘will’ form because we can’t see the situation NOW.
QOTD. At the end of the film, it asks you the question: Which future prediction has impressed you the most?
mind-blowing (irre), exciting (spannend), scary (furchterrengend), human race (die Menschheit), foray into sth (Ausflug), to predict (voraussagen), to forecast (vorhersagen), however (jedoch)
