The 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall has been all over the media in the last few days. Ever since I visited Berlin in April 1990, stood on the wall and chipped away a few pieces (sh! don’t tell anyone) I’ve been fascinated with all things reunification.
How refreshing to read an escape story about two footballers Dirk Schlegel and Falko Götz: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50289343, former professionals for the so-called Stasi team Dynamo Berlin.
Their story reads like something out of a cold war (spy) film and has the perfect ingredients for a book and even a blockbuster film. Patrick Jennings also does a great job writing the article and keeping us wondering whether there would actually make it without a hitch and survive to tell the tail. Check it out!
